Challenge:

Brookaire Company is a family-operated manufacturer and distributor of HVAC supplies throughout the Northeast. The COVID-19 pandemic lead to a significant increase in demand for their air filter products and they quickly outgrew their office space and manufacturing facility in Carlstadt, New Jersey. To keep up with demand, they needed more staff and additional space to ensure they could operate as efficiently as possible.

Solution:

Brookaire purchased a large new building to serve as their corporate headquarters for both manufacturing and office space. RI Workplace was able to provide full concept-to-completion services to overhaul the empty building into an exciting new workplace. The outdated 2nd floor was gutted and transformed into a modern environment with spacious private offices, a café centered on the mezzanine so employees could enjoy a view of the outdoors, several private restrooms, a huddle room for team collaboration and an open workstation area branded with Brookaire’s colors. The 1st floor was designed with an impressive entryway to welcome clients, an open area where staff could enjoy a game of ping pong and a large café with lockers and ample seating for warehouse employees. In the warehouse, lighting was replaced to improve ambiance and the fixtures selected allowed Brookaire to take advantage of NJSEA’s energy efficiency incentive and receive a decent rebate. Detailed electrical requirements for production machinery were addressed to ensure maximum efficiency in their manufacturing processes.

Results:

The flexibility of having more areas for both collaboration and focused work has increased productivity. Employee morale has improved and Brookaire feels they are now in a much better position to attract and retain talent. To serve their growing team, we recently added 4 more offices and 2 private meeting booths. Because the office layout had been designed with future growth in mind, we were able to do this without disruption to daily operations.
