Situation:

Coulmed, headquartered in Springfield, New Jersey, is a leading global supplier of high-performance medical products. With staff numbers doubling since their last renovation twenty years ago, the need for expanded space was imperative. Along with that, they wanted to modernize the office to attract and retain young talent. Despite the project starting at the onset of a global pandemic, this all needed to be achieved quickly and within budget.

Solution:

• Coulmed sought inspiration from RI Workplace’s showroom, adopting several features they admired while customizing the design to meet their specific requirements.
• The office layout was meticulously planned to accommodate increased staff capacity and maximize space efficiency.
• RI Workplace creatively integrated existing building elements into the modernized design, such as the wood ceiling structure, saving Coulmed time and money.
• A variety of collaborative spaces were designed for more convenient staff meetings.
• Upgraded amenities included three restrooms, a spacious kitchen with a relaxing seating area featuring a floor-to-ceiling mural of the NYC skyline and comfy swings.
• Despite pandemic-related challenges like labor shortages and logistical delays, RI Workplace completed the entire office renovation within budget in just 10 weeks.
• As a supplier of the medical industry and therefore a key player in the pandemic, Coulmed was able to continue their business effectively and service their clients without disruption.
